Thomas McCool, M.Ed., Ed.D.

Tom McCool, M.Ed., Ed.D. was appointed President/CEO of Eden Autism Services in 2005. From 1985 through 2005, Dr. McCool served in a number of capacities at Devereux, a national non-profit organization which provides services for persons with emotional, developmental and educational disabilities. From 1985 to 1996 he served as Executive Director of Devereux California, and from 1996 to 2005 he served as Devereux’s National Vice President of Development and Government Relations.

While in California, Dr. McCool was a gubernatorial appointee to the California Interagency Coordinating Council and served on the MIND Institute Advisory Board at UC Davis. Dr. McCool is a Founding Commissioner of the National Commission on Accreditation of Special Education Services (NCASES), and founding member and current Vice Chairman of the National Association of Residential Providers of Adults with Autism (NARPA).

In January 2012, he was elected President of the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children (NAPSEC). He was also elected Vice Chairman of the Philadelphia Irish Business Chamber Network (IABCN). Dr. McCool is a long standing member of the Autism Society. In 2010, Dr. McCool was named Innovator of the Year by the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, and in 2012 the New Jersey Firefighters’ Mutual Benevolent Association presented him with their prestigious Humanitarian Award.

Dr. McCool has presented at numerous professional conferences including the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children, and Autism Society’s National and International Conferences on Autism. Dr. McCool received a Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Institute for Leadership Studies in Hackensack, New Jersey, and a Masters of Education Degree from West Chester State University, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
