Michael Lewis, Ph.D.

Michael Lewis, Ph.D. is University Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, and Director of the Institute for the Study of Child Development at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School – University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He also is Professor of Psychology, Education, Cognitive Science, and Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University.

His research has focused on normal and deviant emotional and intellectual development. Some of his early works focused on the normal course of children's intellectual growth. He related this to changes in the organization of central nervous system functioning, and he developed the habituation-dishabituation paradigm for measuring dysfunctional and normal cognitive development. Based on these measures, Dr. Lewis developed a computer-based technique for enhancing intellectual ability in children suffering from a variety of disorders associated with retardation. Besides attaining the highest level of qualification, he has also received acknowledgements and honors.

Dr. Lewis has written several books on children and the surroundings that affect their behavior. One such book is Why The Past Does Not Predict The Future (1997). WebTeam Corporation in collaboration with Dr. Lewis has developed an app called Autism N Developmental Disorder (ANDDS). Dr. Lewis is the subject matter expert of ANDDS. This app can be used to check whether or not the child has any risk of developmental delays.
