Atam P. Dhawan, Ph.D. heads the Interdisciplinary Design Studio (IDS) at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where students are developing patent pending interactive toys. He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba. From 1985-2000, he held faculty positions in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Radiology departments at University of Houston, University of Cincinnati, University of Texas, University of Texas Medical Center (Dallas) and University of Toledo. In July 2000, he joined NJIT where he served as the Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for nine years.
Currently he is a Distinguished Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Interim Dean of Albert Dorman Honors College at NJIT where he serves as the Executive Director of the Interdisciplinary Design Studio.
He is also an Adjunct Professor of Radiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
He is listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Engineering, and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. His educational background is not just restricted to the aforementioned details as he holds many other degrees and certificates. |
